Very few things of value come for free. Short of winning your case, nothing is more important in a DUI (or any case involving drugs or alcohol) than where you choose to have your court-ordered alcohol and drug evaluation performed.
There are companies that offer “free” or reduced cost evaluations. However, in my experience, these rarely save you money in the long run. Treatment agencies are required to follow certain criteria set forth by the State in ordered to be certified. You would think this would result in all evaluations being the same regardless of where you have them done. This is simply not the case. Some agencies operate with lots of integrity while others appear to be simply about the bottom line.
In addition, there are differences in how well treatment providers communicate with their clients, courts and attorneys. You want to find an agency that will take care of your needs with as little interuptions to your life as possible.
If you live in the King or Snohomish County areas I recommend Assessment and Treatment Associates for their fair evaluations, well-organized treatment and timely reporting. ATA also provides a combined alcohol/drug information school and DUI victim’s panel. (Please be advised that all state certified agencies are required to have you provide a UA as part of the evaluation. )
ATA offers a varitey of services including:
- Alcohol & Drug Evaluations (tell them the Law Office of Scott Lawrence, PLLC sent you for best rates)
- State-Certified Alcohol & Drug Treatment
